FAQs

  • I meet with individuals who are 18 years of age or older. I do not offer couples or family therapy. Due to the nature of telehealth, I do not work with minors at this time; however, parents who would like support and assistance with navigating challenging behaviors are welcome to schedule individual therapy appointments with me.

  • No, I do not accept insurance. Utilizing insurance would require that I appoint you a mental health diagnosis immediately after our intake appointment and share this information with the insurance company. In addition, insurance companies can restrict a client by limiting the number of sessions that will be covered and may request access to confidential records about the client. Please contact your insurance company to inquire about your out-of-network benefits. I can provide you with a monthly superbill (essentially, a breakdown of services and payments) that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursify (https://reimbursify.com/individual-page/) is a service that may streamline the process for you.

Payments can be made by using a credit, debit, or Health Savings Account (HSA)/Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card.

I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate (GFE), as per the No Surprises Act. Under the law, clients have a right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of psychotherapy services. Please refer to https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059 for further details.

  • A sliding fee scale is when a client pays an amount that is less than the usual session cost due to financial hardship or status. I have limited sliding scale spots. Please email me to discuss the potential of a sliding fee scale.

  • Our first 15 minute consultation call will give us a sense of whether we are a therapeutic fit. During this call, we will briefly discuss your concerns, what you are looking for in therapy and other relevant information. If we determine that I may not be a good fit for you, I can provide you with referrals to other mental health providers. I encourage all potential clients to talk with various therapists before committing to working with one. The therapeutic journey is a personal investment.

  • If we decide to move forward after a 15 minute consultation phone call, we will schedule a psychosocial intake assessment (50 minutes). The intake assessment is comprehensive and allows me the opportunity to get to know you better and understand your desires for treatment. During the intake appointment, you will establish your goals for treatment. After the intake assessment, we will schedule ongoing psychotherapy (45 minutes) appointments.

  • I exclusively offer telehealth appointments, which many individuals find to be convenient and effective. Research shows that telehealth psychotherapy is as effective as in-person psychotherapy. I use a HIPAA compliant and secure video-based telehealth platform. You will be able to join our sessions from a computer, tablet or smartphone. The following link has more information regarding telehealth privacy (https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/privacy/guidance/telehealth-privacy-security/index.html). I am licensed in the states of New York and Missouri. Clients must be physically located in one of these states during our sessions.

  • Your appointment time is valuable and is reserved specifically for you. Please provide me with at least a 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations with less than a 24 hour notice and no-shows will be charged 50% of your session cost.

  • The frequency and length of time a client is in therapy depends on various factors such as presenting concerns and goals of therapy. In most cases, we start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). The “C” designation is achieved by completing over 2,000 face-to-face clinical hours in diagnosis, psychotherapy, and assessment-based treatment plans and at least 3 years of post-graduate work experience in the mental health profession. I am licensed in the states of New York (095504) through the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions-Social Work Unit and in Missouri (2020004131) through the Missouri Division of Professional Registration-Committee for Social Workers.
